Age gate
Age verification shows a pop-up on a shopper's first visit asking them to confirm their age. The answer is remembered in that browser for the number of days you set. Shoppers cannot close the pop-up with Escape or by clicking outside it.

A pop-up alone may not meet every legal requirement for age-restricted products. Check the rules that apply to your store.
Add the section
- In the theme editor, add Age verification to the footer section group (Add section in the footer area). The section can only be added to the footer group.
- Set the Minimum age.
- Edit the Heading, Text and Confirm button. In the Text and Confirm button,
[age]is replaced by the minimum age. - Edit the Decline button label.
- Set a Decline link to send shoppers to another site when they decline. Leave it empty to show the Declined heading and Declined text in the pop-up instead.
- Set Remember confirmation for (1–90 days).
The pop-up shows your logo from Theme settings > Logo and favicon, or the store name when no logo is set. It does not show on the password page.
In the theme editor, the pop-up opens only while the section is selected.
